Dr. Surindar Nath Pandita (SNP) D.Phil, Bodleian Reader, Oxford, is an author, writer and researcher. He is the grandson of Prof. Nityanand Shastri who has been described variously as “the crest jewel among the Kashmiri scholars” and “scholar of scholars". Author of several books and scores of research papers, SNP's main area of work is in the field of collaborative scholarship between the Western and Kashmiri scholars during the late 19th and early 20th century, a period that coincided with the Dogra Rule in Kashmir. He is also the Principal Research Investigator of Sir Aurel Stein Kashmir Heritage Legacy Project. Past three decades and more SNP has built up a unique collection of Kashmir's literary resources by way of books, documents, art pieces, artefacts, photographs and several rare letters of Western scholars, both by way of inheritance and personal acquirement, which is an unique resource on Kashmir's literary and documentary wealth. Presently, the collection comprises several thousand individual items that span across subjects like history, literature, culture and heritage of Kashmir; both modern and ancient.
